Duke of Edinburgh Training

After the event that took place couple of weeks ago in Little Ilford Youth Centre to promote peace, The NYPO SWAT Unit has been training for the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Gavin and the rest of the SWAT Unit members, and the newcomer Michelle has been steadily progressing through the training booklet for the expedition. This expedition will be taking place of the 31st of June to the 1st of July in Loughton, Essex. Spike and possibly Sulthana will be there to assist aswel.

In the last session, the DoE co-ordinator for Newham (I think) was there to see how we progress with the training, pressure was put on some team members to make the team look good with their skills, but nothing really went horribly wrong, which means that we must have done something right. We are now able to find locations in the map (1:25000) using a compass, measure distance, and workout how long it would take to get there, which is really cool.

I know that DoE is going to be such a fun experience, I am so looking forward for it, and I'm sure the rest of the team are too.
