Belonging Screening at Stratford Circus - Saturday 11 October

Five young people from the NYPO project (Krishna, Veronia Johannes, Umer and Dolice) were among eleven teenagers making short films themed around their feelings about belonging to this community and they really are excellent. There films were screened at Stratford Circus on 11th October. We plan to put them on the NYPO site as a prompt to online discussion about our community. The Manifesta organisation and the Runnymede Trust which ran the project leading to the fils production will also be looking at using them to create a learning resource.

Rain Fails to Stop Play on Expedition Weekend
On the weekend - 9th to 10th August - eleven NYPO members went on a Duke of Edinburgh Award practice expedition to Epping Forest
The weather forcast was for heavy showers on Saturday and light showers on Sunday but the rain stayed away until Saturday afternoon by which time the group had almost finished their first walk. When they came the showers failed to dampen either the enthusiasm of the group or the campfire that they eventually managed to build. It rained heavily through the night but by dawn the showers were over to give the group a fine day for their second walk.
The expedition was arranged and led by Spike Rahman, supported by Gavin Sealey and Sharon Barbour. All the NYPO members attend the Cyber Workshop and have signed up to complete the DoE Award. Spike commented that the group really worked well together, everyone was enthsiastic so it was an enjoyable weekend for both staff and members.
